Looking for Information on Teamspeak or Ventrilo for the first time
I would like to set up either TS or Vent for a small guild for the first time.
I see that there are companies that will host a 15 member ts sever for roughly $5.50 US dollars a month or 25 for roughly $8.50, thats not so bad. I have used both TS and VENT in the past and have never really had a problem with either. Given that this will be the first time I attempt something like this, and that I know nothing about setting up TS or Vent, I would appreciate any suggestions or advise from others who have done this. Thanks for any info |

Ventrilo Hosting
Teamspeak Hosting Edit: Also, the server I rent for Ventrilo supports 10 people, and is $6.00 USD a month, was the best deal I found after giving up on browsing all of the available hosts out of sheer laziness. Last edited by Faith Falls Fast; Dec 18, 2007 at 09:26 AM // 09:26.. |

Personally, I like the sound quality of Ventrilo better than Teamspeak, but it's your choice.
Teamspeak is the better option if you want to set up your own server though. Ventrilo has an 8-user limit if you set up your own server. |

If you have a spare comp laying around cant you set it up as a vent server for free? I think someone in my guild did this but i might be mistaken.

This is just my opinion... TS can be (at times) more user friendly and has more options openly avalible (No need to mess with settings etc) however Vent has better sound quality... and yes, you can set up a server on an unused computer however it will need a static IP (You need to check with your internet provider) a link for TS servers can be found here: http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=23438
I have yet to se up a vent server so I am unaware of how to do so. |
